Beautiful places to visit in Morzine

There are many better places to ski in Morzine, some of which are listed below:

Avoriaz is a resort with a really beautiful setting perched on top of a cliff. It is a pedestrian (car-free) resort that is very unique architecturally. The development of Avoriaz began in the 1960s, and although it did not adhere to the 'alpine chalet' design, it also ignored the 'concrete building' style. Avoriaz is famous as one of the best places to ski in Morzine.

The idea of using sleighs and carriages (or skis) to get around the hamlet of Avoriaz ensures that the resort retains its unique character and creates a particularly attractive ski area with all amenities within easy reach.

Instead of having conventional buildings, those in Avoriaz were built with the landscape in mind and to blend in with the environment as much as possible, replicating the design elements of the surrounding rocks and cliffs, combining natural materials (for example, Avoriaz's roof tiles are made of red cedar and most of the buildings are clad in wood rather than concrete), and avoiding right angles in the design of the buildings wherever possible.

An exceptionally popular tourist destination is only an hour away from Morzine. The highest mountain peak accessible by a lift system is the Aiguille du Midi. The beauty of these mountains and glaciers will stay with you forever.

The Rhône Alpes department of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is located in the Haute-Savoie. The town of Chamonix is best known for two things: firstly, it is a very popular alpine ski resort; secondly, Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in France, borders the town.

Chamonix offers skiing for all levels, as you would expect from one of the best known ski resorts, but it also offers much more. Chamonix is one of the best places to ski in Morzine.

In addition to alpine skiing, other winter sports include Nordic skiing, freeriding, snowshoeing, ski touring with stays of one or more days, snowboarding, ski joëring (horse-drawn skiing) and driving a dog team.

In the Alps, Megeve is a village and ski resort located between Sallanches and Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. The Rothschild family developed Megeve's status as a ski resort in the early 20th century. Megeve was once an important leather tanning town. Many people now consider it one of the most amazing ski resorts in the world.

Megeve was originally a farming community, but in the early 1900s it began to open its doors to visitors as a summer spa. When the Mont Blanc Hotel installed heating and the ski season began, it was thanks to a journalist from the French Alpine Club that Megève was persuaded to welcome winter tourists. Tourists and ski instructors began to arrive in Megève.

Megeve is a beautiful resort to visit all year round, although it is quieter in summer. There are many interesting walks for the less experienced to explore the best of the local landscape, such as Lac de Javen - ask at the Megève tourist office.

Almost every sport is on offer, including mountaineering, hot air ballooning, paragliding, alpinism, golf, etc. Megeve is also popular among the best places to ski in Morzine.
